Brave Rewards Ads Count Lost After Installing & Removing Brave Nightly

Hello Brave Community,

I’m reporting an issue with Brave Rewards where my earned ad count was lost unexpectedly.

I had been using the Brave browser for over a month with Brave Rewards enabled and actively watching ads. I had accumulated around 98 ads. Recently, I installed Brave Nightly on my laptop to test it. After removing Brave Nightly, my main Brave browser was reset, and all my Brave Rewards data — including the ad count — was cleared.

There was no clear warning that installing or uninstalling Brave Nightly could affect the existing Brave Rewards data on the stable browser. Since Brave Rewards data appears to be stored locally, this resulted in a complete loss of the time and effort spent watching ads.

Brave Rewards was unlocked and working properly before this issue happened. I’m sharing this here to:

  • Report the issue

  • Ask if there is any way to restore lost ad counts or rewards

  • Suggest better cloud backup or syncing for Brave Rewards to prevent this in the future

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? Any guidance from the Brave team would be appreciated.
