Description of the issue: How can this issue be reproduced?
It froze and crashed suddenly while 4 tabs were open.
Expected result: it fixed itself
Brave Version: 1.87.191
Additional Information: Four tabs were open that didn’t consume much RAM, but Brave suddenly froze and consumed over 9 GB of RAM, freezing my computer. I waited 10 minutes for it to recover. I never experienced this issue even with 20 tabs open.
Brave’s sudden RAM spike and crash can often be fixed by clearing cache/cookies, disabling hardware acceleration, and checking extensions for memory leaks. Make sure you’re on the latest Brave version, enable Memory Saver to reduce tab usage, and use Brave’s Task Manager (Shift + Esc) to openskycc com close any tab or extension consuming excessive resources. If the issue persists, try creating a new user profile to rule out corruption.
On Windows OS 10/11 you “prefer” the iGPU in the Graphics settings for each app, not with a single global switch.
I would Exit / Quit everything, and then (steps according to Perplexity.ai):
Per‑app iGPU preference
Open Settings → System → Display.
Scroll down and click Graphics (sometimes “Graphics settings”).
Under “Custom options for apps”:
Choose Desktop app or Microsoft Store app, click Browse to add the app if needed.
Click the app in the list → Options.
In the popup, select Power saving (this is the iGPU), then click Save.
Restart computer.
