I’m currently running Kubuntu 25.04, although I upgrade as new versions are released. I’ve been using Brave on my desktop for years, and install it according to these directions. I’ve rarely had any issues like these, but recently Brave has been crashing a lot more often. It doesn’t happen consistently, which is tricky, but often I’ll open the browser, simply hit a key to type an address into a URL, and it will crash. I was able to record this log:
Your report is similar to another report ‘Crash when typing into the address bar’. It is solved by switching to Nightly, but the solution has not been isolated. In that report, Wayland was in use by both users. Nightly works without switching back to X11, but take care in copying your profile between versions. They can co-exist.
I chose to disable the release repo before adding nightly, but they install into different directors ( under ./.config/Brave software , IIRC.
So I swag that you can leave both enabled, though the ‘Default’ profile directories will diverge if you use both versions. I would not try to link into a shared Default, because things about the most recent software used against the profile will likely conflict.
The repos will look for different software releases, they get updated independently.
