.brave domains no longer resolve on any browser by adding .site?

@Sunspot previously made a post here in May 2025 announcing that they had created a Cloudflare service to automatically resolve any .brave domain on any browser by adding .site at the end of the URL. This was fantastic and was a great way to give .brave domains mainstream use until the Brave partner behind them, Unstoppable Domains, applied to ICANN.

Except, Unstoppable just announced they are no longer applying to ICANN for ANY of their domains, which was a major point in their advertising when they were selling .brave and other domains.

So, not really going to touch that can of worms, but Sunspot’s .site resolving is now the only true way that .brave domains can be used for properly hosting websites on mainstream browsers (Brave natively resolves them, to be fair). And I was troubled to find that shortly after receiving the news that Unstoppable isn’t applying to ICANN, the .site tool has also stopped working.

So, I guess this is a question to Sunspot, but also anyone else, is the .site tool now dead alongside the ICANN application for .brave domains? Is there any chance that could be brought back, since that is still going to be immensely helpful in .brave’s functionality going forward? Even without ICANN, the ability to make .brave websites with no renewal fees required is still really handy.
