Better highlighting of active tab

In dark mode, the active tab highlighting is very faint. Especially when using tab groups and lots of tabs, it’s easy to lose track of where the active tab is. I find myself frequently hunting for my active tab.

The problem is made even worse with night shift on and a dimmed screen. It’s nearly impossible to pick out the active tab at times.

I have looked for extensions to fix this but they seem to either be poorly functioning, poorly maintained projects or require an entire theme replacement.

I like the default theme but a control to allow increasing the highlighting or, better yet, outlining the active tab with a 1px line that is either white or that matches the associated tab group color would be awesome.

Thanks.

True. It’s a major issue on Brave when using horizontal tabs

I am also waiting for it for years.
I am not sure how strict the development sticks to the votes, but if they go by votes, we must increase the votes.

Please help to push it by VOTING FOR IT. at the top there is the blue button.

I went through all of the similar requests below and voted. :wink:

I have issues with this too. Do a lot of research often have multiple similar tabs open, always accidentally closing the wrong one or opening a new tab because in dark mode, it’s difficult to see the active tab or see distinguish the lil x to close the tab from the + to open a new one.

@Thrive @mbernbrich @TobyHorton You can try enabling this flag from brave://flags :

Compact Horizontal Tabs Design.

Also, I suppose Brave has fixed it already. The above flag increases the contrast a little more (for me at least).

Thanks. Will give this a try.

Why Brave ignore such an important fix? It basicly make Brave non-usable!?
