The maps Brave Search is using (Stadia Maps, with OPS) is not great at searching addresses and it can’t do directions. Plus, although searching for a business brings up a map, searching an actual address does not. I appreciate Brave’s desire to ditch big tech, but I suggest integrating Apple Maps into Brave Search if this can be done affordably (and privately). DuckDuckGo and Kagi, two privacy search engines, both use Apple Maps to provide their mapping function, and it works great. And surely if Kagi can afford this, Brave can, right? An Open Street Maps-based provider will never offer the functionality users are accustomed to.
