In a Brave Browser New Window, go to:

brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com

If you see both buttons ‘Delete data’ and ‘Reset permissions’ then click both. If you only see one of them, click that button. Then scroll down that settings page and be sure to Block Autoplay … and be sure to Allow JavaScript.

And then repeat those steps for:

brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fyoutube.com

You might need to test extensions that you have installed:

Extensions Tests:
  • test by disabling all extensions
  • test by enabling each extension individually
  • test by uninstalling all extensions
  • test by installing each extension individually
  • test combinations of extensions
  • test order of installation of extensions

There might be a setting influence via Brave Sync? Possibly some Policy Management influence - see: ‘brave://policy’.

There is always the ubiquitous: Visit the ‘Advanced’ tab at: ‘brave://settings/clearBrowserData’ and Enable only:

  • All time
  • Cookies and other site data
  • Cached images and files

… and click the Delete button.

Exit / Quit Brave Browser. Pause 30 seconds. Start up Brave Browser and test.

Thanks for this, it looks like autoplay is now being blocked consistently.
