Why Doesn't Brave Browser Provide Login Credential

Description of the issue:

Saved Password and username not filling login forms

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary):

  1. Navigate to a site where logging in repatedly time likely will occur
  2. Login. Enter user name and password
  3. Be alert to a prompt asking if you want your login info saved
  4. Regardless of your choice, saved passwords can be checked. Check the password must-have and the url associated
  5. Log out by restarting phone
  6. navigate to login screen were you saved yourvinfo

@carla_rogers it’s there, but you need to set Brave for your OS password manager. Go to iOS settings → General → AutoFill & Passwords. From there, Apple has a list of apps that can be used for Autofill. Make sure Brave is enabled, such as you see below.

I should have been more clear. My phone is android. My desktop is macos. No IOS here

Yeah, you threw the label on it, so is why I looked at it. Newer Android devices actually do similar to iOS if I remember right, but I haven’t used newer Android devices.

This should be same across all desktop. If you have password manager enabled then it should just show. You can make sure it has toggles on at brave://password-manager/settings just in case.

If won’t immediately populate with the login credentials. You’ll have to click in the box and then it will have the option in the drop down as suggestions. For example:

Mac is set to autofill passwords

Come to think of it. The passwords are offered, at login to me, but I have to type username. Used to prefill usernanes, so I figured something was wrong.

At some sites, username refills from a list. Other sites offer list, but do not include the one I need

I had just edited to mention that just as you mentioned. This is how it should be by default. Brave doesn’t let it just automatically type in without our input because there are some vulnerabilities around it. Websites were putting in invisible boxes that we couldn’t see but the browser could detect. It was causing people to share a lot of personal information and passwords unknowingly.

Due to this, it’s no longer set to allow our browser to just completely fill out the text boxes. We need to click and then choose what to add.

Many autofill forms will also be limited to certain things. Basically it just tries to break it up rather than automatically assuming that since you shared one detail you want all of your other information filled out in forms.
