Sounds like your GPU driver is treating it like a game as if it needs VRR. Make a “game profile” in your GPU’s driver and disable VRR for Brave. Should help.
can u tell me specifically what options/steps to do in nvidia control panel?
I haven’t had an Nvidia card in half a year, but if I remember, open Nvidia Control Panel, 3D Settings, switch tab to Program Settings, look for Brave, then set “Monitor Technology” to “Fixed”.
If it still goes down to 48Hz (this is usually one of the lower Hz a VRR monitor does, and websites can idle, which slows down the VRR), then I’m not sure. But if it still does it, try turning VRR off entirely. If it still is doing it, might not be VRR related then, but it seems to be since it’s 48Hz specifically.
i just disabled my monitors freesync. i dont play games anymore.
brave or nvidia should fix this issue.
I have a Radeon card, and the driver isn’t defaulting to using VRR with Brave, so I’d assume Nvidia. You’re welcome to send the feedback through the drivers portal (Geforce experience, or nvidia app, whatever it’s called now) since if disabling VRR entirely did fix it (thus confirming my theory), it’s very much something they can fix.
With that said, since you don’t game anymore, don’t bother, just leave VRR off and you’re good to go. Glad disabling VRR was the problem solver for you.
