Why are there so many browser updates to Brave

I have been using Brave for almost 2 years now and I like with the exception of one action which takes place very often, now it seems more often than in the past. The constant updates that require browser restarts. I have had 3 updates in less than 2 weeks with this browser, I mean that seems a little to frequent. What’s really annoying is the fact that I trade and the constant updates is just becoming more work than it’s worth, restarting all of the programs I have to restart. I don’t understand WHY there are so many updates? Can someone please help me understand, as I am very seriously considering switching to another browser, Thank You

There are typically three types of updates you apply when you update your browser:

  • Major update – this usually includes several changes to the browser including new features, UI changes, bug fixes, etc. This is probably what most people consider an update to be (which is not wrong – just not the only case).
  • Minor update – these will usually come with smaller, less obvious changes to the browser, including (but not limited to) browse engine updates, minor bug fixes, uplifted fixes that weren’t quite ready when the major update was released but don’t need to wait until the next one, etc.
  • Hotfix update – this is usually applied when there is a major security issue or
“browser breaking” bug that, for example, causes the browser to crash immediately for a number of users.

Brave actually isn’t updating much more than any other browser out there. Did a bit of digging and have made a table showing the desktop updates for the last month for several popular web browsers:

Brave Chrome Opera MS Edge
Feb 12 — 1.87.186 Feb 3 — 144.0.7559.132 Feb 2 — 127.0.5778 (major) Feb 7 — 144.0.3719.115
Feb 19 — 1.87.190 Feb 10 — 145.0.7632.45 (major) Feb 11 — 127.0.5778.47 Feb 14 — 145.0.3800.58 (major)
Feb 24 — 1.87.191 Feb 13 — 145.0.7632.75 Feb 26 — 128.0.5807.25 Feb 17 — 145.0.3800.65
Mar 4 — 1.87.192 Feb 23 — 145.0.7632.116 Mar 5 — 128.0.5807.52 Feb 20 — 145.0.3800.70
Mar 11 — 1.88.127 (major) Mar 3 — 145.0.7632.159 Mar 10 — 128.0.5807.66 (major) Feb 26 — 145.0.3800.82
Mar 5 — 146.0.7680.65 Mar 6 — 145.0.3800.97
Mar 10 — 146.0.7680.71 (major)

(note that this list may not be perfect as I did this check fairly quickly)

As you can see, given the rate at which the web changes/evolves, the amount of users per browser all demanding specific features, the increasing prevalence of security threats while browsing online (and quickness in which they’re deployed), all the browser updates you are applying are necessary to ensure that you remain safe/secure online and that you have a smooth browsing experience.
