first of all, I get lost in these forums. I must be doing something wrong. I don’t see anything telling me where I am and I tend to not be able to find my way back to something I was reading. how do we keep this straight? (BTW: I use Dark Mode to save battery/electricity, so I might not see icons elements)

Study what? How to use these forums? If I do that, then when would I have time to get Ask Brave to function better than a tonic-clonic seizure (so far, accuracy rate is about 20%, and I’m assuming I’m doing something wrong. But at least it’s not ChatGPT or Gemini). As it is, trying to figure out Ask Brave is really slowing down progress I’m trying to make editing Wikipedia articles. Are we really expected to make a hobby out of figuring out how to navigate the forums? If we’re doing that, how can we have any kind of quality feedback to offer, since we spend all our time figuring this out?

Thank you very much, Mattches, for your patient guidance. I am going to carefully note the difficulties I think I’m having so I can post clearly. I might post in the next day or two.
I didn’t reply here as I planned because I’m struggling so hard with Ask Brave that I end up too exhausted and confused to even verbalize the trouble I’m having, but today was the limit. One of the deadliest avalanches in recent history happened a few days ago. I know some people with connections to the area so I was trying to get a better picture of what happened. I’m on my desktop and I typed into the addtress bar of my brave browser “tahoe avalanche??” and opened up Ask Brave. It gave me an in-depth rundown. I asked it to paste into the chat all the links it could find to all the maps or diagrams of where the avalanche occurred. It spat out 5 bullet points, 3 of which had links. I specifically asked for links for the remaining 2 bullet points and it did provide them, but none were for the avalanche site itself. One was for “Perry Peak” but no mountain carries that name in that area. It then told me that the name came from multiple newspaper accounts. So I asked it to search academic and geographic sources and it then agreed with me that no Perry Peak exists in the area. But it said the location was a “north-facing slope .5 miles from ‘X’”. So I located X on a topo map and used an application that draws concentric rings around geographic points. There was no north-facing anything within a half-mile radius of “X”. EVERYTHING there was either flat or faced south or east. I told it that and then it told me the location was “the northwest-facing slope of ‘geographic feature y’ which is to the east of ‘X’.” But ‘geographic feature y’ is to the WEST of ‘X.’ I told it this and then it told me the feature was to the west of ‘X.’ I asked it if it was synthesizing or hallucinating and it said no. I told it that it had said the feature was to the east and then said it was to the west. The AI denied saying this. So I pasted into the chat exactly what it had said. THEN it admitted that ‘I should not have said that’ but it continues to repeat into the chat the content it previously identified as erroneous.
I suspect I’m using Ask Brave incorrectly, but if we can’t use it to search the internet more effectively then we can on our own, why is it part of Brave Search? I edit wikipedia because there’s so much inaccurate stuff there. I go through and try to rectify the factual errors. No one pays me to do this so I’m CERTAINLY not going to pay for a research assistant AI. But honestly, trying to use Ask Brave as a research assistant is usually like trying to asking my kooky neighbors who hide in their house with the blinds closed, put conspiracy theory signs in their yard, and only come out to try to enlist us to join the most recent nutbar conspiracy they found on social media.
