Description of the issue:When I close the last tab in a group, it switches to the next group instead of a tab within the same group (if there is another group following it).
How can this issue be reproduced?
-
Launch brave
-
Create two or more tab groups
-
create more than one tab in the first group
-
Delete the last tab on the right
-
Actual Result:After deleting the last tab of the first group, you will be on the first tab of the next group.
-
You can replicate this by doing the same thing—even if it isn’t the first group—provided there is a standalone group or tab afterwards (to the right of the current group).
Expected result: Remain in the group of the deleted tab.
If possible, stay on the tab preceding the deleted one.
Example: I have three tabs in the group; if I delete the third one, I switch to the second tab within the same group.
Brave Version( check About Brave):
Brave 1.95.101, Chromium 153.0.8010.37
Mobile Device details:
Redmi Note 13, Android 14
Additional Information:
On September 15th, I updated to the latest version of Brave available on the Play Store.
Previously, when closing the last tab, it would disappear and the view would switch to the second-to-last tab. However, since the latest update, closing the last tab causes the app to jump directly to the next tab group—or to a standalone tab, if one exists.
If there is no next group, instead of jumping to another group, it switches to the second-to-last tab of the last group (which, in this case, is the current group).
This seems to be related to the fact that, following the update, deleting a tab now always switches the view to the tab to the right of the deleted one, rather than the tab to the left.
I have checked the tab-related settings in the mobile version of Brave, but there is no option to prevent this group switch or to configure it to switch to the tab to the left of the deleted one.
