Please edit your Original Post (“OP”) above, in order to include:
- Brave Browser version numbers
- Operating System version numbers
ChatGPT suggests that you try the following:
- Disable hardware acceleration in Brave
- Open
brave://settings/system - Turn off Use graphics acceleration when available
- Relaunch Brave and test WhatsApp Web again
- Check the microphone sample rate
- Windows Settings → System → Sound → More sound settings
- Open the microphone’s Properties
- Under Advanced, try setting the format to 16-bit, 48000 Hz (or 16-bit, 44100 Hz if already at 48000 Hz)
- Apply the change and test again
- Disable audio enhancements
- In the microphone’s Properties, look for Audio Enhancements or Enhancements
- Disable them temporarily and test
- Test with a new Brave profile
- Create a fresh Brave profile and try WhatsApp Web before installing any extensions (see “NOTE:” below)
- Check Brave Shields
- While on WhatsApp Web, temporarily lower or disable Shields for the site and test whether audio quality changes
Also, is the microphone:
- Built into the laptop,
- A USB microphone/headset, or
- A Bluetooth headset?
NOTE: For testing, create AN ADDITIONAL Brave Browser user Profile (Menu --> More tools --> Add profile). When creating:
- Make no appearance adjustments other than to set user profile color at
brave://settings/manageProfile. - Do not import anything.
- Do not add any extensions.
- Do not make any adjustments to content filtering at
brave://settings/shields/filters. - Do not allow/enable any Brave Browser “bells and whistles” such as Brave Rewards, Brave Talk, etc.
Suggest that after you create that new user profile, Exit / Quit everything and restart the computer … and then choose the new user profile for testing WhatsApp Web.
Hi, thank you for your help.
I’ve already tried all of that using chatgpt hahaha, I even tried other things like disabling some WebRTC-related features but without success. I tested using https://online-voice-recorder.com and the problem persists when recording with Brave, but when I use Firefox, for example, the problem doesn’t occur.
