Voe - Brave Shields does not block anti-adblock

Subject: Anti-Adblock Banner Appears Only on iOS and iPadOS

To the Brave Support Team,

I am writing to report an issue with Brave’s ad-blocker that is specific to the iOS and iPadOS versions of the browser. On these platforms, anti-adblock banners are appearing on certain websites, preventing access to the content.

For comparison, I have tested the same websites on Brave for Windows and Android, and everything works perfectly on those platforms. The ads are blocked, and no anti-adblock messages appear. The problem is isolated to iOS and iPadOS.

Did the issue present with default Shields settings?

Yes, the issue occurred with the default Shields settings on both my iPhone and iPad. The settings are configured as follows:

  • Block: Ads/Trackers, 3rd Party Cookies, 3rd Party Fingerprinting

  • Allow: Encrypt Connections (HTTPS), Scripts

Where and how do the ads/messages appear?

On iOS and iPadOS, visiting the following URLs results in an “anti-adblock” banner or a message that blocks the content and requests that I disable my ad-blocker:

Again, these exact URLs load without any issue on Brave for Windows and Android. This suggests the issue is related to the specific implementation of Brave Shields within Apple’s ecosystem.

I hope this detailed comparison helps pinpoint and resolve the issue for iOS and iPadOS users.

Best regards,

Apparently, from what I can guess, you are using VOE Streaming in order to view a broadcast TV show online, known as “Moonshiners” ← correct?

I used deepl.com to translate the panel that you included in your OP (thank you):

VOE

Werbelocker sind auf VOE nicht erlaubt
Advertising lures/spoofs are not permitted on VOE

Es sieht so aus, als wurden Sie einen Werbelocker verwenden.
It looks as if you are using an advertising lure/spoof.

Werbung ermoglicht es VOE, fur alle Nutzer weltweit kostenlos zu bleiben.
Advertising allows VOE to remain free for all users worldwide.

Mit VOE Premium konnen Sie werbefrei arbeiten oder Werbung zulassen.
With VOE Premium you can work ad-free or allow advertising.

So, VOE wants you to NOT block its advertising. ← correct?

And, VOE has some anti-adblocker process running . . . that you would like Brave to block? ← correct?

Sounds like a web compatibility job for Brave team member @fanboynz

Yes via bs.to in switzerland its legal

Thx @fanboynz it works again
