Unable to log into Fidelity via Brave Browser (Edge still functional)

For the first time in a few years, I am unable to log into apps via Brave. Can still log in via Edge. Fidelity solution: “Use Edge, we don’t support Brave.”

Description of the issue: Unable to log into fidelity via Brave.
How can this issue be reproduced? ,

  1. Attempted many times including turning off Brave VPN and rebooted

  2. Turned off all “Brave Shields” and rebooted

  3. Verified I can still log in via Edge.

Hello @Pschoon - I’m able to sign in on Fidelity (using Brave Beta). Could I have you try using a New Private Window from under the hamburger menu?

Done.

Thanks AI

I’ve used Brave login + Keeper PW Mgr successfully for a long time.

I can log in with Edge, so I know it’s something to do w/Brave.

Thanks AI

Other secure logins work fine.

By chance, from Edge (where you’re able to successfully sign in on Fidelity), could you copy out the saved sign-in data and then enter it completely manually in your Brave browser? (Fully typed, no autofill.)

Hi Lee,

Fidelity asked me to do that already.

I did, but same result.

Next, changed PW

Lee,

I see that there have been 4 MS Defender updates in the past 48 hours.

I didn’t log into the site yesterday, so am subject to all 4.

Done.

Not the issue.

Problem remains.

Lee,

I see that there have been 4 MS Defender updates in the past 48 hours.

I didn’t log into the site yesterday, so am subject to all 4.

My guess is that one of them is causing the issue at fidelity.

How can I turn Defender off to test?

Is this applicable?

If so, how do I mitigate?

We had a similar issue in the past with a user who was able to login to Fidelity but it would never remember his device that has been closed:

@Pschoon can you please provide more information about your issue? At this point I know that you can’t login using Brave and can using edge. Can you please tell us:

  • What specific OS you’re using at this time?
  • What Brave version you’re using at this time?
  • What actually happens when you try to login to the site? Are there any error messages that appear? Does the site crash? Do you get booted back to the login screen?

Please provide as much information as possible so that we can provide the best support possible.

Brave is up to date

Brave 1.87.191 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Chromium: 145.0.7632.120

Microsoft Windows 11 Pro Version 10.0.26200 Build 26200

Enter UN and PW and then:

Border around each just turns red

That’s it. No error message.

Woops, should have deleted personal info.

Sorry.

Can you please try visiting the site, going to the login page, then opening the dev tools console window (Menu --> More tools --> Dev tools --> [Console]), then with the console window open, try logging in again.

Share a screenshot of any output that appears in the console window (you can copy/paste it or share screenshots – whichever is easier for you) and share it with us here.
