Hi,
I know this is a topic that has kind of been covered already but I still find it impossible to find any real answers or make any real progress. Basically, I am unable to join the Bat Brigade Discord server so that I can be considered to have Brave rewards paid into a self-custody wallet. Most of the invites I have followed don’t work at all. A couple of them have taken me through all of the rigmarole of signing up to Discord, but after all of that I’m still not registered on the BB server. When I’ve tried to join the server manually I’ve received messages from the bot (Bat Boy) saying that the server isn’t accepting new users. I’ve never used, or been banned from, the server before as was suggested to another user (I’ve never had an account on Discord other than for this).
Can somebody please enlighten me about what’s going on, as the information available online is woefully inadequate. Is the ability to have rewards paid into a self-custody wallet just being reserved for a select group of insiders? Or as it’s now been almost 18 months since Brave announced the roll out of self-custody wallets, and very little progress appears to have been made, is it reasonable to assume that the project has just been abandoned?
I previously selected the option to simply accumulate BAT rewards and donate them to content creators, as I have not (and will never) sign up to a custodial wallet, but Brave removed that functionality a year or two ago IIRC. I have since just turned the ads off, which seems like a terrible shame as I believe that micro payments like these will be the backbone of a well functioning, decentralised, internet.
Any information gratefully received. I am using Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS and Brave version 1.78.102. My region is UK / Europe
