Well, I had to look up that one:
https://ubuntu.com/blog/18-04-end-of-standard-support
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS ‘Bionic Beaver‘, one of the most popular Ubuntu releases, will reach the end of the standard, five-year maintenance window for Long-Term Support (LTS) releases on 31 May 2023.
What is an Ubuntu LTS release?
Ubuntu LTS releases provide a stable, enterprise platform for development and production, with five years of standard security maintenance for the ‘Main’ repository and in-place upgrades to the next LTS release.
It is important to take action – either by migrating to the next LTS or upgrading to Ubuntu Pro. Unless you take action, your 18.04 LTS machines will not receive any security updates after 31 May 2023.
So, I wonder about the “LTS window” re, if Chromium support is still willing?
Because, if Brave says that Brave no longer supports “18.04 LTS” then very likely, that is because Chromium will not, now, unfortunately.
when you look at the detail provided by chrome, it says it does support 18.04,
which by the way I am subscribed to PRO.
Dan
I am having same problem. I also use 18.04 Pro with all ELTS updates, and getting the exact same message, and also see that 18.04 is supposed to be supported when I click learn more. http://www.enlightenment.org/ss/e-68963969a05a75.73456647.png
So assuming this is an incorrect message, how to prevent it appearing?
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS support by Ubuntu, ended at midnight, April 30, 2023 ← unless using an Ubuntu Pro subscription:
Ubuntu - Long term support and interim releases
Ubuntu LTS releases receive 5 years of standard security maintenance for all packages in the ‘Main’ repository. With an Ubuntu Pro subscription, you get access to Expanded Security Maintenance (ESM) covering security fixes for packages in both the ‘Main’ and ‘Universe’ repositories for 10 years. Phone and ticket support is also available and can be optionally added on top of an Ubuntu Pro subscription, covering the same packages covered by ESM, for the same time frame.
Add on optional Legacy Support to Ubuntu Pro and expand security maintenance and support for an additional 2 years, resulting in 12 years of coverage overall.
I am not using Linux OS. But, on MacOS, I have found that, after an unpredictable number of Brave Browser updates, I have to completely un-install Brave Browser (after I have backed up all user data) . . . and then make a fresh install of Brave Browser ← in order to realize (see in action) some changed/new settings and/or find/see where things are located in settings and in BB windows (caused by developments: “re-arranging of the furniture”).
