Trouble importing full history from Chrome

Description of the issue:

I’m on a new computer and have only been able to import 8 lines of browsing history from Chrome. I downloaded Chrome and signed in; now I have a “Person 1” profile and a “Matt” profile in that browser. My Person 1 profile seemingly has my full history synced. My Matt profile also seems to show my full history, but only if I’m online; in airplane mode, it only shows the small amount that made it to Brave.

I’ve tried importing history from both profiles multiple times.

I’ve tried directly moving the History files from the Chrome folder over to Brave, but it wouldn’t let me. Tried copying them to a separate folder as well and it said I need permission from my old computer, which no longer works. I suspect this permission issue may be why it isn’t importing to Brave. Since I can see my full history as Person 1, it should be accessible.

I have not yet tried deleting all my browsing data or reinstalling Brave from scratch. I’d prefer not to as I’ve already set up some things before realizing I was missing history, but I can do it if someone thinks it’ll work.

Is there any way for me to bring all my history over to Brave? Thanks in advance to anyone who offers a suggestion.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Brave browser → hamburger menu → Settings
  2. Search settings for “import”
  3. Click “Import bookmarks and settings”
  4. Select “Google Chrome Person 1” with “Browsing history” checked (have also tried bookmarks and extensions) and click “Import”
  5. Repeat Step 4 with “Google Chrome Matt”

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

Expected result:

I want my full browsing history to be imported, but I get nothing beyond the few sites that already imported.

Reproduces how often:

Always.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):

OS: Windows 11 Home version 24H2

Brave version: Brave 1.84.132 (Official Build) (64-bit), Chromium: 142.0.7444.60

I don’t think this will resolve your issue but if you wanted clarity on which profile is which since you seem to have 2 now (and I’m not sure that’s what you want as well)

You can go to brave://version and/or chrome://version and see which profile is which (within respective Profiles) looking at Profile Path

Ah that’s good to know. That does clarify something I was wondering about in the Chrome directory. Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m glad that helped (at least minorly/seperately), I only discovered that VERSIONS “site” recently (for more checkout: chrome://chrome-urls/),

I wasn’t entirely sure if it would work in Chrxme but figured it would because it is officially chrome://version in Brave as well (so you can still get to the chrome://chrome-urls/ in Brave too), because if you bookmark it (which obviously I did) it shows it as chrome:// and NOT brave://
& to go back a step, because I stopped using Chrxme years ago after discovering Brave (and I’d encourage anyone else to do the same and get away from Gxxgle).

I think they should add that as a link in the About Brave section, an External and Internal About Brave link(s).

Anyway for anyone reading this stuff, the OPs issue is still not fixed if you can help him out… I don’t mean to sidetrack too much here… :man_shrugging: :man_facepalming: sorry about that…

(Also hope this all makes sense… I’m kinda tired)
