When long-pressing a link to open the pop-up preview, then choosing “Open in new tab,” can there please be an option to enable switching to that new tab automatically, instead of having to hit “switch” on the little popup that subsequently asks if I want to switch to the tab I just opened?
A small thing, but it would be soooo much more convenient.
EDIT: this also applies when opening a link from the “Tabs from other devices” pages.
I think that there should be something like this in the app too! Safari even does it!
Desktop but ditto – can’t believe this isn’t an option! Since people can never agree, the standard option (for Mac) is literally the option and shift keys: choose option-click to open in a new tab and make it active, or option-shift-click to make it active.

Hey, Darth. Thanks for suggesting this. It’s my biggest gripe with Brave. You say it’s a small thing, but to me it’s kinda HUGE. I hope they listen to us to simply make it an option in Settings. After all, why not?
Devs, can attention be brought to this again? It’s a simple but massive quality of life improvement.
Just made a quick extension that makes new tabs open automatically, but I can’t publish it on Chrome Store, so here’s the file and steps to set it up correctly (It’s not a virus: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/0531d9f924b7a0e56c47be9050b157c7ffa29b4937579056defc21dd8294809f?nocache=1 ) :
Go to brave://extensions and enable “Developer Mode” on the top right.
You will see an option “Load UnPacked”, click on it.
Download the extension ( https://github.com/DragonDreat/Auto-Tab-Focus-Brave/releases/tag/auto-focus-brave )
Extract the extension ( It’s not important where).
Then go back to your Brave Browser and select the folder of the extracted extension.
Click OK and enjoy
