Suddenly Lost all my saved passwords from brave but did nothing

Important routines for users of Brave Passwords Management:

  • make export of passwords to CSV file
  • make backup of Brave user data

Study the following, beginning with:

PASSWORDS > CAUSES of, or EVENTS leading to, disappeared, lost, missing, “suddenly gone”

  • browser > wrong data / wrong setting (somehow disabled?)
  • browser update event
  • changes to system ‘user name & password combination’ credential(s)
  • cleared passwords by some act of clearing user data such as ‘On exit’
  • encryption key changed > for ‘Login Data’ file records
  • extension interference (competing password manager?)
  • failure to maintain routine backups of passwords > exporting to CSV files
  • ‘Local State’ file data corrupted / corruption / error / missing
  • ‘Login Data’ file data corrupted / corruption / error / missing
  • Operating System update event
  • ‘Preferences’ file data corrupted / corruption / error / missing
  • putting computer into hibernate / sleep states
  • sync somehow interrupted - cloud sync , data sync, settings sync
  • Windows OS Registry / MacOS setting / Linux OS config - bad or wrong data / wrong setting
