Subtitles not working in full screen custom video players

Hi! I’m having problems with subtitles and full screen in custom video players.

The subtitles load and works fine when the player is in A: non full screen, B: Full screen with active controls, eg. moving mouse or using keypad to seek or C: with devtools window and full screen and non active controls.

Whenever you try to view the movie/series in full screen with non active controls and no devtools open the subtitles don’t show up.

Verified that other browsers firefox and chrome works fine.

Anyone got any ideas?
