OK, which tabs would you have chosen–I didn’t see any more relevant than performance. I read through all the previous submissions, tried them all and couldn’t resolve the issue with Brave. I inadvertently submitted the same question twice because I’m new to the board. Basically Brave is not retaining data that I have already been on that specific site and is “approving” it very slowly, even it was just or still is open, even with shields down. This has been happening for about two weeks.
No problem with Safari
Completely uninstalled and reinstalled Brave
Running the latest version
Have 359 of 995 GB available
32GB RAM
Turned off extensions
Turned off graphic accelerator.
Turned off another program with firewall and anti-virus
Internet speed is 320.
I’ve also turned on and off my computer.
I have been a strong advocator for Brave, but now it’s difficult to recommend it.
Slow loading on macOS for heavy web apps like Google Workspace usually comes down to Memory Saver, Hardware Acceleration, or Brave Shield / Extension conflicts.
Here are a few quick fixes to test on Mac:
Disable / Tweak Memory Saver:
Go to brave://settings/system and check Memory Saver. If enabled, Brave discards inactive tabs. Unfreezing heavy apps like Gmail/Docs can cause noticeable lag. Try turning it off or adding *.google.com to your “Always keep active” list.
Toggle Hardware Acceleration:
Go to brave://settings/system and toggle “Use graphics acceleration when available” off (or back on) and relaunch Brave. macOS metal renderer glitches can sometimes slow down tab rendering.
Test in a Private Window / New Profile:
Press Cmd + Shift + N or create a fresh test profile (Settings > Add new profile). If it loads instantly there, a browser extension or corrupted cache is causing the delay.
Brave Shields Check:
Click the Shield icon next to the address bar on Google Workspace and try setting Trackers & Ads blocking to Standard (or disable Shields temporarily for workspace apps) to see if script blocking is throttling the load.
Give these a shot and see if it makes a difference!
