Show Active Tab Group Name in Window Title or Show Tab Name in Named Window Title

Summary
Add an option for Brave to include the active tab group name in the browser window’s title bar or add an option for Brave to include the active tab name as an add-on to the browsers Named Window feature.

Why this matters

  • Helps distinguish between multiple Brave windows when switching via Alt-Tab, the taskbar/dock, or virtual desktops.

  • Improves focus and workflow management—especially for people who use tab groups / windows to separate projects, contexts, or work vs personal browsing.

  • Reduces confusion when many windows are open with similar sites/tabs.

How it could work

  • When a tab group is active, prepend or append the group’s name to the window title.

    • Example when a tab group called Work is active:

      • Current: Google - Brave

      • Proposed: Google - Work - Brave or Work - Google - Brave

    • If no group is active, default to current behavior.

  • When Named Window feature is used, append the tab’s name to the window title.

    • Example when Named Window = Work:
      • Current: Work
      • Proposed: Work - Google
  • Ideally, make this behavior toggleable in Settings for users who don’t want it.

Benefits

  • Accessibility: clear context cues at a glance.

  • Productivity: easier window management when juggling multiple projects.

  • Consistency: Chrome already allows static window naming; this builds on that feature by dynamically syncing with tab groups.
