Shields are causing Google Search to reset display language & theme settings randomly

I’ve opened an issue for this here:

Google Search settings seem to be getting "reset" for some users

### Description There are several users reporting that Shields cause Google sit…es (namely Search) settings — such as regional settings, language settings and theme settings — to reset themselves. This issue has been occurring for a few months now and appears to happen inconsistently for some users, but happen every time for others. > _When you search with google search, there is a cogwheel on the right that allows you to change your region, dark mode, language and more. Whenever I make a new search, these settings are completely wiped._ > _I was trying to report the same problem affecting Brave on my android phone that started precisely a week ago. My post got blocked by Brave’s Akismet. Today Firefox and Brave browsers on Win11 have the same problem._ > _I have the exact same problem, on both mobile and desktop. It started a few weeks ago and is driving me nuts… I’m in switzerland, so it assumes I speak german (I don’t) and switches to it all the time. What’s crazy is that I’m logged in my goggle account, which has my settings (english, dark theme, etc) Whenever this happens, if I check on my avatar on the upper right screen of the google page, I can see my settings set to german, light mode etc. I need to reload the page and voila, it reverts back to my normal settings._ Most users who have reported this issue are using Windows OS, although there are some reports of users seeing this on Android as well. ### Steps to reproduce 1. Change Google Search settings 2. Perform search/relaunch the browser ### Actual result If issue is encountered, any settings that were changed will revert back to default. ### Expected result Settings should be retained. ### Reproduces how often Easily reproduced ### Brave version (brave://version info) v1.68.134 ### Channel information - [X] release (stable) - [X] beta - [ ] nightly ### Reproducibility - [ ] with Brave Shields disabled - [ ] with Brave Rewards disabled - [ ] in the latest version of Chrome ### Miscellaneous information https://community.brave.app/t/shields-are-causing-google-search-to-reset-display-language-theme-settings-randomly/550124/4 https://community.brave.app/t/very-weird-brave-behaviour/550165/7
