Search query disappears on google.com when Shields is enabled

Description of the issue:
On google.com, when I type a word into the search box and tap “search”, the typed text disappears as if the search is cancelled; no results load. This only happens when Brave Shields (the lion icon) is active. Disabling Shields for the site fixes it and the search works normally.

Origin Build type (standalone or upgraded):
Standalone

Operating System and Brave Version:
iOS 26.5 (iPhone), Brave Origin 1.91

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Go to google.com with Shields enabled
  2. Tap the search bar and type any word
  3. Tap “search”
  4. Typed text disappears, search does not execute

Expected result:
Search should run normally with Shields on.

Actual result:
Search query is cleared and no results are returned.

Additional Information:
Disabling Shields (lion icon) for google.com resolves the issue immediately — search works as expected.

@Experience we can’t reproduce this issue on any platform in Origin. Can you try clearing site data for google.com (Menu > All Settings > Shields & Privacy > Manage website data) and then test again to see if the issue persists?

Hello, and yes. Unfortunately, following your instructions to delete all the Google cache, I experienced the same behaviour from the browser.

Same here (Brave Browser v 1.91 (179) iOS v 18) - what was typed in a search field, vanishes.

That happens when Global Block Scripts setting is Enabled in Brave iOS settings:

I don’t think it’s a bug but I will confirm with some of our Shields folks and see what should be expected here.

Unless there is a custom list, it shouldn’t, which lists enabled?
