Session Recovery After Unexpected Browser or System Shutdown Could Be More Reliable

Hello Brave Team and Community,

I would like to discuss the reliability of Brave’s session recovery feature after an unexpected browser or system shutdown.

In my experience, session restoration is sometimes successful and restores all previously opened tabs and windows. However, there are also cases where some or all tabs are not recovered, resulting in lost work and browsing sessions.

I would like to know:

  • How frequently does Brave save session data?
  • What factors can cause session restoration to fail after an unexpected shutdown?
  • Are there any settings that improve the reliability of session recovery?
  • Are there any plans to make session recovery more robust in future versions?

It would be helpful if Brave could minimize the risk of losing open tabs and browsing sessions, especially when the browser or operating system closes unexpectedly.

I would also be interested in hearing whether other users have experienced similar behavior and what solutions or workarounds they have found.

Thank you.

Can you press Ctrl+Shift+T to restore the tabs? Usually that works.
