Separate home screen on Tor window

It would be great to be able to have a separate set of display sections dedicated to the Tor window. Generally I use it for accessing .onion search engines, and being able to open the Tor window and have it immediately go to a certain page while keeping the standard new tab window in the regular browser would be very helpful.

Given the nature of .onion addresses, they’re not something I’m (usually) able to memorize, and for the sake of privacy and keeping Tor and regular browsing segregated, I don’t want to have them bookmarked.

That’s a pretty good idea. Hope developers would look into this…

I’ll have some time this week to look at the code base this week after I finish another project.

It would be helpful if any developers could comment on any previous discussion about some level of persistence in Tor windows, any attempts at doing it, and whether or not adding this feature aligns with the company mission. Given the purpose of Tor, it is not a trivial task to maintain privacy and persistence in the environment and many would likely opt out. It is a somewhat niche addition.

Regardless, I will fork the contribution branch and mess around with it this week. As a contributor to TailsOS, I’m confident I can at least get the needle pointed in the right direction.
