Search Bug
This post should have been made years ago, as I still face this issue on Windows 10 and Windows 11 (Yes, it has been this long)
I will go straight to the point…
Whenever you want to search something up in the Adress bar, you type it, then click to a different tab, and re-type what you wanted to type and then press enter, your page will load with what you typed in the Adress bar when you clicked on the tab.
I will demonstrate:
You open a new tab.
You type “How to use” But then you click on a 2nd tab beacuse you want to multitask
You return to the new tab you typed “How To Use” and then type the full sentence - Which in this case is “How To Use Perplexity Pro Mobile App” and then press enter the page only loads “How to use”.
Try it yourself ^^^
I’ve been using brave for over 3 years now, and this is a mistake I kept running into, even on Linux, I have been on multiple devices, multiple Personal Computers, but this issue never got solved.
Now I don’t know WHY it never has been fixed, but given I am probably the first person to report this bug here, you may give me a year free worth of Brave VPN:)
ps: I’ve wanted to report this for so long

Hello, I’ve never run into this issue with my browser. Still to be sure, I’ve replicated the steps exactly and things worked just fine. Maybe you have some extension causing the problem. Just saying.
You’re not the first person to report this on this site:
Interesting. Nice find @AdriGamer . Let me tag in @Mattches so he’s aware.
Mattches, I was able to test as they mentioned and the issue occurs both on Nightly and on Release.
For example, I typed in the a, went to other tab, came back, changed a to b and submitted. The search came back as results for a. Then tried where typed in somewhere, tabbed, swapped back, changed somewhere to something and submitted, but the results given was for somewhere.
Also doesn’t seem to matter which search engine…
There’s also an open issue for it already – one from more recently and one opened from when that thread above was created:

### Description
Strange issue in the address bar when performing a search (note… that this can be done with any search engine). For this bug to occur, the `Show autocomplete suggestions in address bar` in `Settings --> Appearance` must be disabled. Essentially, if you type something into the address bar, go to a different tab, then return to the address bar and either finish typing or change what is in the address bar, when you hit `Enter` it will search for what was previously in the address bar before you changed the entry. Note that this issue occurs regardless of which default search engine you have selected.

### Steps to reproduce
1. Ensure `Show autocomplete suggestions in address bar` is disabled in `Brave://settings`
2. Open two tabs
3. Type Google (or anything) into the address bar, then select the other tab
4. Return to the first tab and type in another search term (in the video I typed `Brave`)
5. Hit `Enter`
### Actual result
Browser will search for the first term that was typed into the address bar, even after it's been deleted/replaced/changed
### Expected result
Browser should search the last term entered.

### Description
AFFECTS WINDOWS, MAC, LINUX.
When I start typing something in … the address bar or paste a link that is potentially wrong, and then I switch tabs or windows (whichever window i switch to won't matter here), and I correct what is in the address bar, and I go to press Enter/Return, it either searches for what was in there before I switched tabs/windows or goes to the incorrect link
The search engine used doesn't matter, whether I use Brave Search, Google, etc. it doesn't matter here.
### Steps to reproduce
1. Type or paste something in the search bar in any open tab in any profile
2. Switch tabs or windows (how long you are away from the tab you're searching or pasting a link in doesn't matter)
3. Go back to the tab the search term or link was input, correct it, and press Enter/Return, the original thing that was typed or paste will be what is either searched for or gone to
### Actual result
https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/2cc26f81-f9a3-4ff9-b6e9-1ccf40b76e08
In the above video, I have 2 new tabs, search "goodbye" in the second one, then switch over to the 1st tab and switch back to the 2nd tab, and then delete "goodbye", type "hello" in its place, and "goodbye" is what is searched. Same goes for links:

Replace "goodbye" and "hello" with google.com and apple.com respectively, and the same outcome happens
### Expected result
It should have gone to "hello" when I corrected "goodbye" and apple.com when I corrected google.com
### Reproduces how often
Easily reproduced
### Brave version (brave://version info)
This is an old bug, but I couldn't report it until now, but this has happened for about 2 years at this point.
It appears to have been fixed in beta/nightly, but not in release

Strange thing is this issue no longer occurs as far as I can tell. Using your example:
Works for me on Windows and Linux (Ubuntu) as well. If you create a fresh browser profile can you consistently reproduce the issue there as well?
