Description of the issue: Prime videos will not play since Sep 27. Played videos the night before and now it doesn’t work!
Prime says “Prime Video is incompatible with your current operating system or web browser.” (error 7132).
Videos either will not play, or the play option will not ready.
Prime support could not help.
I’ve tried turning off shields, turning off adblocker, clearing cache and cleaning registry.
I’ve rebooted and reinstalled Brave.
Everything works perfectly using another browser, including Chrome.
Brave Version( check About Brave): 1.82.172 (64bit)
Chromium 140.0.7339.207
Additional Information: PC, Windows 10, everything up to date.
@airdave just tested on my end and Prime Video is working for me on both macOS and Windows systems. Can you please update the browser to the latest build (v1.82.173) and test again to see if the issue persists?
@airdave do you have widevine enabled? Settings → Extensions → Widevine
If not, make sure to go there and enable it.
If it is enabled but you’re still seeing it, go to brave://components and see if you can update the Widevine Encryption Module component or if there are any errors when you try.
Yeah, they assume most browsers have it built in. So when it’s not seeing the components, it’s saying the browser must be outdated or otherwise not supported.
Brave just has the toggle so people can be in a bit of control. In part because there are some discussions where Widevine has been seen as something that can be used to help fingerprint browsers.
But most movies on YouTube TV, Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+, Netflix, and all of those types of places tend to want to require DRM. Without it, people can easily record and pirate the materials, so it’s just extra protection for them.
@airdave as I said earlier, Chrome and many other browsers just have it built into the browser. Brave decided to be different and have it as a toggle because the browser is more about privacy.
If you go to chrome://components/ you’ll see where Widevine is there. Actually, I’m seeing it in two different, not sure off the top of my head how what the two separate entries are:
I’ll repeat: Brave gives the option for potential privacy**
There have been projects and information around the net about how it can permit fingerprinting
