Additional Information: I tried using sync, but it gave me an error saying I need to update Brave on the device it’s on. However, I used the sync code on my PC in case this exact situation happened in the future.**
Brave Sync to me was confusing at first, then I figured it out with a little help. Sharing a link below for more information.
But in my own words, what you have to do is take the original sync chain code (which has 25 words in total), and when adding a new device use that same sync chain code MINUS THE LAST/25TH WORD and replace it with the “Word of the Day” which can be easily found here: https://alexeybarabash.github.io/25th-brave-sync-word/
So original 24 words + the current one from that link, goes into the New Device and things should be back to the way they were (hopefully).
But as the support link below ALSO says, it’s not a reliable way to back things up… and if you DID lose you current stuff to a crash I’m not sure if you’ll get it back, but BE SURE TO CHECK HISTORY if it does open new fresh with nothing.
I hope that’s not all you took away from what I shared, the included post is meant to say you SHOUDLN’T rely on Brave Sync as a backup. But it’s still reliable for what it DOES do.
“Export Passwords - Selecting Download file will export all credentials you’ve saved in your browser as a .CSV file onto your system. Note that anyone who has access to your system will be able to open and view this file, so it is recommended that you delete this file once you’ve used the file for its intended purpose.”
You should verify that location; in a BB New Window, go to brave://version and scroll down to Profile Path.
Without BB running, and before doing anything else, also make a backup of the User Data folder . . . placing the backup somewhere that is safe and NOT within any BB installation path.
