Night mode not working on certain websites

Exact URL of the website in question:
https://www.nytimes.com (works)
https://www.slashdot.com (doesn’t)
https://www.stackexchange.com (doesn’t)

**Did the issue present with default Shields settings?
Yes

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off?
No

Is there a specific Shields configuration that causes the site to break? If so, tell us that configuration. (yes/no):
No

Does the site work as expected when using Chrome?
The browser bar does change but not the contents itself when I toggle iOS Dark Mode settings

When you visit https://www.slashdot.com, is Night Mode not working immediately, or not working after you scroll, or not working when you subsequently visit (by clicking a link) another slashdot.com webpage?

When you encounter a “not working” . . . you might toggle the Site-Specifict Brave Shields > JavaScript setting. Does that action cause the Night Mode to work for the site?

On Slashsdot (and all the instances I’ve found), it’s not working immediately, regardless of whether I scroll down.

If I toggle the “Block Scripts” option, the site’s text totally disappears.
