I just discovered this fairly new feature " Always clear cookies when windows are closed" and it doesn’t work. I guess this feature is supposed to be CookieAutodelete “Lite” or something along those lines.
Added websites and cookies still there when windows are closed. I tried it with no success with and without “Clear cookies and site data when you quit Brave” enabled . Still no cookies cleared upon window close.
Quickly tested the Always clear cookies when windows are closed feature, using the following entries:
[*.]community.brave.com
[*.]reddit.com
The feature does clear cookies but still leaves leftovers, the same way the Clear cookies and site data when you quit Brave feature does, for which I opened a Github issue last month: https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/16334.
I battled with this cookie deletion issue for months here in the community as that thread attests and via other support channels before I filed that bug report back in 2020. I resorted to using an extension to delete the Google cookies mentioned in the github bug report.
Extremely frustrating at times when I have no interest in BAT and simply want to use Brave for as a browser and its marketed privacy. The competition works better in some areas where sorry to say Brave falls short.
Unfortunately, I’m coming to the same conclusion as you. And I’ve been a big promoter of Brave. Truly, very sad they can’t or won’t deal with browser fundamentals!
