New TOR Private Window won't connect PLUS Update errors on components

Description of the issue:
Well it’s in the description. Opening a New Private Window with TOR shows a “disconnected” tab and won’t connect.

There are also numerous components that will not update, and show Update error.

This error has happened numerous times in past versions. None of the solutions listed solve the issue. None of the previous posts mentioned the Update errors. I believe they are connected.

A possible fix would be what the FireFox TOR Browser, (I understand that the Brave Version is somewhat pared down), which allows a manual forced connection attempt.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open Brave
    2.Go to hamburger menu
3.Select New Private Window with TOR

Expected result:
A new private window will open and TOR will connect

Brave Version( check About Brave):
1.80.113

And not one reply? I know others have had this issue in the past. I have not found anything remotely resembling a solution.

Is there any response at all to this?

I got Brave because of the built in, albeit cut-down TOR browser. It that is not even going to get addressed, let alone resolved. I will dump this thing and go back to Firefox and the Firefox TOR Browser.

I don’t need this. A mere browser isn’t worth this trouble.

Are you using Bitdefender, by any chance? I am, and when BD’s “enhanced threat detection” is enabled (the default), it blocks Brave Tor windows.

I’ve posted this here, because I’d like to know the URL or domain Brave uses to connect to Tor, so i can bypass it in Bitdefender. Haven’t gotten any replies either, so far.

No I am not. I only have two extensions running a dark mode thing for Youtube and Grammerly. I have not checked that dark mode graphic thing for Youtube, but I have had both of these for a long time now and did not experience any issues.

I did turn off grammarly and restart my browser. that had no effect. :frowning: Thanks for headsup.
