"New Private Window with TOR" not working

@fmarier Since posting yesterday, I’ve updated to the current Beta:

"Brave is up to date
Version 1.27.100 Chromium: 91.0.4472.124 (Official Build) beta (x86_64) "

Still no TOR tabs open, before or after toggling the “Private window with Tor” setting.

@fmarier A still later reply… Now it’s working.

It appears that the setting has to be left in the ‘off’ position for TOR tabs to work (i.e., not spin indefinitely.)

At least, that’s the only thing I’ve changed, since finding it ‘not working’ after updating to the latest Beta.

So if you turn Private window with Tor OFF then you are still able to create Tor windows and they work?

Or are you simply creating private windows without Tor in that case?

@fmarier Well… at this point the feature isn’t working with the setting ‘on’ or ‘off.’

Yesterday, I was able to open a TOR tab that loaded a webpage normally. So it seemed to be working. The TOR setting was ‘off’ then and I confirmed today that it was ‘off.’

That tab is also still open. But now I’m not able to open any others. They just ‘spin’ indefinitely. ‘On’ / ‘off’ setting has no effect, same result.

Ok, thanks for the extra details. If you’re able to file an issue at https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues, we will need to look into it because you seem to have a different problem from what we’ve seen so far.

If it starts to fail at some point, I’ll try the solution you posted. (I assume that the procedure, including the close-&-relaunch, would only be required once, not repeatedly.)

Hi it’s been three months and none of the solutions offered have worked and nothing has changed.

Was this feature even working? From the moment that I downloaded Brave this feature has not worked even once.
