I have had the following problem since yesterday: When I go to Netflix or Crunchyroll, the video cannot be started there. On Netflix I get the following error M7701-1003, on Crunchyroll there is no error code.
I have tried everything here in the forum:
brave://components for updates
brave://settings/content/protectedContent is on
Widevine is on
brave://settings/clearBrowserData
and I have deleted and reinstalled the browser
The only thing that has helped is the incognito window
Hey thanks for your answer. I’ve already listed everything I’ve tried above, including your suggestion.
I was now able to fix it myself by first watching Netflix via the private window for a while. After a few hours it worked again with the normal window.
I can’t say exactly what the reason was that it now works again, but maybe it will help someone who also has the problem.
@xNek just so you know, if it works in a private window but not in a normal window, then you can be 99.9% sure that your issue is either an extension you have installed or is related to cookies.
Private is just a separate session that launches with no cookies. And unless you changed settings, it also opens with all extensions disabled. All else stays the same. Then when you exit, it clears cookies and history from what you did in that session.
I’m guessing either cookie causing the problem resolved or maybe an update within the browser and/or extension happened that fixed.
@kendrajimm do you have Widevine enabled? Well, assuming you’re on desktop. Settings → Extensions and make sure to enable the toggle
Btw, usually is helpful if you can give more detail details rather than the generic “ I tried all the usual fixes.”
That doesn’t tell me if you’re on an android, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Linux, or what. It also does not say if you tried in a new profile, if you checked in a private window, what version of Brave you’re using, whether you tried it in beta or nightly and have issues, etc. Or even what settings you’ve tried, if disable and shields make a difference, the list can go on.
There are way too many things that people can do and that we have to kind of track when we think about what advice to give. So just a reference for the future, you may want to make sure to always provide as much detail as possible
