Links from external programs open a New tab

Whenever I click a link from an external program (Word, VS Code, etc.), it just opens a New tab instead of the actual site.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Clicking a hyperlink on an external program.

Expected result: Brave opens the site I want to visit.

Brave Version( check About Brave): 1.39.111

Does this happen when the browser is opened, closed or both? Additionally, can you tell me if you have any extensions installed in the browser at this time?
