When the Brave browser is set to Arabic language, the Leo AI assistant does not load properly. Instead of opening the expected Leo interface, a blank and repetitive page appears. The issue only happens in the Arabic language setting — Leo works normally in English and other languages.
How can this issue be reproduced?
Open Brave browser.
Go to Settings → Languages → Set the browser language to Arabic.
Restart the browser if needed.
Try to open the Leo AI assistant.
Expected result:
Leo should load normally with its full functionality, even when the browser is set to Arabic.
**Brave Version (check About Brave): v1.80.120 (Jul 9, 2025) **
Additional Information:
Issue does not occur in English or other languages.
Thank you for your reply.
When the browser is set to Arabic, Leo doesn’t even load — I don’t get a chance to ask anything.
The page where Leo should appear is completely blank and seems to keep reloading or duplicating itself.
This issue only happens when the browser language is set to Arabic. In English and other languages, everything works fine.
Let me know if you’d like a screen recording — I can provide that as well.
They are asking you to select a language Leo is working with, but ask it verbally to respond in a different language. For example, load in English, but in English, ask to “please reply in Arabic”.
This tests the LLM to see where things are going wrong.
@MasterLink @steeven
I tried what you suggested — I changed the browser language to English, then opened Leo and asked it (in English) to reply in Arabic. It worked just fine, and Leo responded in Arabic with no issues.
So the problem is not with Leo’s ability to understand or respond in Arabic.
The issue is with the Leo interface itself when the browser is set to Arabic.
In that case, Leo doesn’t load at all — I just get a blank, repeating page with no input field or way to interact.
Thanks! @steeven, I can confirm this users issue on my computer here when Brave itself is set to Arabic. I get a black void here.
Also, perhaps a recommendation to the Brave team, as someone who doesn’t speak Arabic, I could blindly make it to the settings page for languages based on icons which is great, however the languages themselves should be named in their native languages, so you know which language is which. (In my case I had to re-launch 3 times, kept getting the wrong one).
