Description of the issue:
Brave will sometimes fail to load local IPs, such as 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.50.1.
This happened to me twice in two days, once on a mac, once on windows. Once for each of the LAN IPs listed above.
The addresses are PINGABLE and CURLABLE:
$ curl 192.168.50.1
<HTML><HEAD><script>window.top.location.href='/Main_Login.asp';</script>
</HEAD></HTML>
But brave refuses to show them. Other browsers on the same systems at the same time can open the pages.
Here is a screenshot of when it happened on my Mac. Brave says it can’t load the page, but Safari loads it:
This might be a coincidence but when it happened on Windows, when I tried private/incognito and clearing dns and sockets from brave://net-internals/ fixed it.
On the Mac, private/incognito, wiping dns/sockets, disabling all extensions, etc, did not fix it.
I changed ISPs so I probably connected to my Asus and the Chita a hundred times each in the last two days, seems like after the 50th time Brave just says no-go, and I have to switch to Firefox/Safari..
How can this issue be reproduced?
Do not know what causes it. After the Nth time connecting to 192.168.x.y simply stops working
Expected result:
Pages should open, the way they do with all other browsers on the same systems at the same time.
Brave Version( check About Brave):
| Brave | 1.92.140 Chromium: 150.0.7871.125 (Official Build) (arm64) |
|---|---|
| Revision | 8a5ca3b3a64cfd3773c8d2d19b4fbeb3decbc033 |
| OS | macOS Version 26.5 (Build 25F71) |
Additional Information:
Tried shields on/off, extensions on/off, private mode, wiping net-internals, etc. On the PC that worked once, on the Mac that never worked.
