Description of the issue: YouTube requires sign in to confirm not a bot
How can this issue be reproduced?
-
iPhone 15 Pro Max
-
iOS 18.6.1
-
Brave (iOS) 1.81 (134)
Get the dreaded âsign in to confirm youâre not a botâ on trying to play any YT video.
Have tried multiple setupsâŚnothing seems to fix this issue. Searching Brave Community, found this post (only 9d old), hence new thread creation.
Tells us nothing. What did you try? We have to assume you tried just about everything or tried nothing at all. Itâs good to touch on what youâve done.
For example:
- Are you using VPN? If so, have you tried without it?
- Have you turned off Shields or changed settings?
- Does it happen in a private window?
- Tested on Safari and Chrome to see if the same issue persists?
That issue is different than yours and not worth mentioning. That one referenced trying to watch the âFree With Adsâ copyrighted movies. They were blocking it from loading on mobile devices. But choosing the option to Request Desktop Site caused it to load. So yeah, nothing about what you are experiencing where itâs asking you to sign in to prove youâre not a bot.

- Turning on Shields. Off/On. Also tried various options, I didnât journal every change.
- Didnât matter if it was a private window.
- Uninstall/Reinstall iOS Brave app to reset default settings.
- Updated to latest iOS (from 18.6 to 18.6.1).
Interestingly enoughâŚ.
Turning off VPN (couldâve sworn I had tried this)âŚ..but this time Brave started working with YT (playing without requiring sign in) as expected inside both regular and private windows. So, further test, turn VPN back on. Same result, working as expected.
Issue seems to have resolved.
@btcanpix yeah, I was going off of https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/1dasxoa/sign_in_to_prove_youre_not_a_bot/ from a year ago where a lot of people associated the issue with VPN.
Thanks for replying with the update. Glad to hear it seems to be resolved for now. Iâll mark this as solved but do feel free to reply back or create a new topic if this or other issues come up again.
