iOS AI Chat can no longer access or summarize the active webpage

Description of the issue:

Since around mid-August 2026, AI Chat on Brave iOS has stopped receiving context from the active webpage.

Previously, opening AI Chat from a webpage allowed Leo to summarize the page or answer questions about its contents. Now it opens an isolated new chat with generic suggestions such as “Create a study plan” and “Craft a professional email.”

If I ask it to summarize the current webpage, it responds:

“I can help summarize a webpage, but I need the page content first.”

This happens on all webpages I’ve tested. The desktop version still works normally and can access and summarize the active webpage.

This greatly reduces the usefulness of AI Chat on iOS.

Is this a known bug or an intentional change?

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open a webpage with content.

  2. Press the AI Chat button.

  3. Ask Leo to summarize the webpage.

Result:

Leo is unable to summarize or interact with the webpage content unless the user manually copies and pastes the content into the chat.

Expected result:

Leo should be able to summarize and interact with the active webpage content as it did previously.

With AI Chat open, if you click the paperclip icon do you see the Current tab contents option? Thanks!

Awesome. paperclip icon > attach current tab contents works great.

I see now that the functionality changed. I wouldn’t have known to look there since it used to be done automatically.
