Include a Select All option in history

I don’t know why, but Brave keeps closing all my tabs at shutdown and it is very annoying. I know I can open history and check each tab on a one-by-one basis to restore them, but surely you can add a select all option for a given day?

I don’t know if I’m alone in this but I tend to keep at least 30 tabs open, many of which I use on a daily basis. Checking each one in history to restore it is a waste of time.

Enable “Continue where you left off”

Follow these steps on desktop (Windows, macOS, or Linux):

  • Open Brave and click the three-line menu (≡) in the top-right corner.

  • Click “Settings,” then go to the “Get started” section (address bar: brave://settings/getStarted).

  • Under “On startup,” select “Continue where you left off.”

  • Close Brave and open it again, it should now restore all tabs from your previous session automatically.

Kind of. Is it safe to assume you’re on desktop? If so, when you go to History, you’ll see checkboxes.

If you check one box and hit Ctrl+A (on Windows), it will highlight everything.

If you just want to select a certain range, you could click on a box, then scroll up or down to the other end of what you want, then hold Shift and click on the second box. This will highlight everything in between, which you can then choose to open them all.

Notes:

From the hamburger menu, the History line shows recently closed windows or tabs. You can right click and choose to restore. Like in the below, I saw a recent window that had 3 tabs. When doing a mouseover it expands to show what those tabs were. I can right click to restore the whole window and it along with all those tabs will be opened again

And of course, what narendramahara mentioned is definitely a big thing. Set this and it won’t always close everything when you exit Brave or shutdown your device for the most part.

Thanks, but it was already set at that and it still keeps closing all my tabs every 3 or 4 days.

I did not know you could select all by checking the first and last boxes. That is indeed a good solution to the problem. Thanks.

The Continue where you left off option doesn’t work very well. Tabs reopen for a few days and then are all deleted for seemingly no reason.

If Brave does not restore tabs even:

Make sure you are not clearing data “on exit” under Settings → History → Clear browsing data → “On exit,” because this can wipe session info.

Nothing is checked in the On Exit section.
