Description of the issue: I wrote a simple HTML file that basically only shows 1 picture. The body contains only 1 line: . The jpg file is in the same directory as the html file. Yet, when the html file is opened in Brave, the image fails to load. When I try opening the page in Firefox it works perfectly. The file is local and shields are down. I’ve tried deleting cookies, cached images, and site and shield settings with no luck.

Why is Brave doing this and how can I fix this?

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Write simple HTML file

  2. Try to open with Brave

Expected result: Brave opens the file and displays the picture.

Brave Version( check About Brave): Brave 1.82.170 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Chromium: 140.0.7339.186

Additional Information: OS Manjaro Linux

First thing I would do is update the browser to the latest build – v1.83.109 – and test again to see if the issue is resolved.

Updated to 1.83.109. Still no luck.

But then I noticed that I was using the Brave package from the Flatpak repos. I removed that one and installed the package from the official Manjaro repositories. Once I did that everything worked as expected.

Thanks!

Thank you for confirming and good sleuthing on your own. We always recommend downloading Brave directly from our repos for Linux users.
