Description of the issue: Hello, I’m having a problem typing in Google Translate. It’s very slow with the shields enabled. When I disable shields, it returns to normal, as shown in the video. I don’t know if another user is experiencing the same problem.
@fanboynz@Saoiray@Mattches Hi, I’m having a problem. When I enable the AI filter to block, I don’t want artificial intelligence. It slows down when typing text, as shown in the video I posted. And when I disable the filter, it returns to normal speed. I’m having problems with Android, Windows, and Linux Mint.
I see the two things quoted above as a bit contradictory so I am hoping to get you to confirm some details. Default would be everything “as is.” If you’re enabling extra content filters then it isn’t default settings. So to make sure no misunderstandings, this issue only happens when you enable the Anti AI filter? And disabling that but leaving Shields on causes it to work as expected?
Can you also remind which device/OS you’re using? I’m wanting to say it’s Android but not sure if it’s normal, on Samsung’s One UI, or what? And which specific versions of those. It might play a part in testing.
Also, what is the exact settings if you did click on the Shields lion while having the slowdown? I mean, does changing between regular to aggressive blocking, toggling on/off fingerprinting, or any of that not have any impact?
Yes, that’s correct. When I enable the AI filter, it slows down. And when I disable the filter, it runs faster again.
It works when disabling AI with the shield on, and I have “Block trackers and ads (standard)” on, but when I enable it again it becomes slow.
Android: Vivo model V2028, browser version 1.83.119
Windows 11: 25h2, version 1.83.120
Linux Mint: 22.2
I had it in shield mode (standard) when I enabled the AI filter, it would get slow; setting it to (aggressive) would still make it slow.
I had it in (standard) mode with the AI filter enabled, “block fingerprint recognition,” it would get slow, and disabling “block fingerprint recognition” with the AI filter enabled would make it slow. And disabling “block fingerprint recognition” would make it slow with the AI filter enabled.
@Mattches Yes, that’s correct. Among other things, when I search for information on Google, it seems to be slow, and when I disable the AI filter, it returns to normal. The culprit of the filter is AI. I’d like an update to fix it so it works normally again because I honestly don’t like AI. If there’s an update, it would be great to solve my problem. Thank you.
Hi @fanboynz, I’m still having the problem with the AI filter enabled, and it’s slow when typing text. Is there an update to fix this issue for Android, Linux Mint, and Windows? I’m on the latest version.
@fanboynz I tested it on the desktop as shown in the video and you can see that with the AI filter activated, when I start writing the text it gets slow, it’s like the page freezes when I start writing. But when I deactivate the AI filter list, it regains its speed and I type and it doesn’t freeze. That’s why I started experimenting with the AI filter and the culprit is the AI that runs slow and freezes. And among other pages. That’s why it would be great if there is a solution or that increases the speed of the AI filter so that it doesn’t get slow on my multiplatform
Does seem its related too this, applying all the google rules to the whole google domain. Seems much slower when I specifically enable this. Lets wait on their response.
If we don’t get response, or fix we can just remove them from the list component
@fanboynz Yes, it does get slow when I enable the AI filter, but it would be great if there’s a solution for me and everyone to be able to block the AI so I don’t lose performance speed and it doesn’t freeze when typing text, among other things. I hope you find a solution to fix this problem.
Hi @fanboynz. I’m waiting for a solution. Were you able to speak with the developer to address this issue, because the AI filter is still slow across the platform.
