How can this issue be reproduced?

I navigate to my chosen homepage, then copy the url.

using the keyboard shortcut or the hamburger icon in the upper right of the brave browser I open settings –> appearance

I toggle “show home button” to ON, then click the second radio button and enter the URL of my chosen homepage
Expected result: When I click the home button on my toolbar or when I open a new tab, this should set the page that opens
Brave Version( check About Brave): Brave 1.87.188 (Official Build) (arm64)
Additional Information: It changes the text of the URL to some font like wingdings and does not open a new tab to my homepage; when I open a new tab or press the home button on my toolbar it opens the default new tab page [instead of the page I want]. However when I first boot up the browser it opens to the correct page (under settings –> get started I have clicked the radio button for “Open a specific page or set of pages” and entered my chosen URL, and that functions as expected) I just updated Brave to try to fix this, and the bug still occurs.
