How to try my password after entering wrong recovery phase

Hi! I forgot my password to my brave wallet and found my recovery phrase.

Or so i thought.

I entered the phrase and the new password that i wanted but the recovery phrase was wrong.

Now i have figured out what my initial password was but everytime i enter brave wallet i only get the options to import existing wallet with seed phrase or to create a new one. How can i enter the prompt to insett my old password again? I didn’t reset the wallet.

Could i change some lines in c:\users\myname\appdata\local\brave-browser\userdata\default\preferences so brave knows i have an account already.

Oh! And I don’t have a user in brave browser. I am not logged in.

If anyone could help me out i would really appreciate it.

Hello! If you reset your Brave Wallet, you must use the recovery phrase to restore the original wallet. Once restored, you will see the option to set a new password.

Hello! I did not reset my wallet. that´s the thing.
i used wrong recovery phrase to change password, and after that all i can do i create a new wallet.

Do you have the original recovery phrase related to the original wallet? If not, you’ll be unable to restore the previous wallet.

so even if i didn´t create a new wallet or reset my wallet, the old wallet is gone? Sorry if i am a bit slow here, just want to make sure that I understand. English is my second language as well, hope you understand

If you’re seeing the option to import a wallet or create a new one that can mean one of two things:

  • The wallet was reset
  • The wallet was never created

Please note, uninstalling then reinstalling the browser would reset the Brave Wallet.

The recovery phrase is imperative in recovering your wallet. If it was not recorded or written down for safekeeping, then it is not recoverable.

ah ok, I know i updated the browser, but i never uninstalled. was hoping for a rollback option or something or that my credentials is hidden somewhere in a file, heh.

Happy to help! The recovery phrase or private key are the only ways to recover the wallet and/or address.

i am assuming that private key is a third option and not the password? I have the password…
