I’m trying to match the aesthetics I had from Edge in Brave, because while I do like the Copilot integration and aesthetics of Edge, I’m really sick and tired of AdGuard crashing and having to look at ads in Edge. I’ve reported that issue several times on AdGuard’s github, as have hundreds of others, but they refuse to fix it. So, I’m done with Edge.
It was nice to have a button that I could press to bring up Copilot, but that really isn’t something that couldn’t be replaced by a bookmark to copilot.microsoft.com. However, I cannot for the life of me get the colors to match. I selected what I think is a light blue, it just looks like a dank gray or a drab purple.
Yeah unfortunately the default theming options are a bit of a shortcoming with respect to Brave. I believe we have plans to enhance this. That said, one thing you can do is download a custom theme from the web store and install it – there’s thousands of them and you can likely find one that suits your needs.
I for one would like the return of the Micah flag that was removed, that Edge still has, and Firefox has now gained as a default seemingly.
I know it broke vertical tabs, but I’d like to see it worked on, not entirely abandoned. I mean, web browsers in Windows 7’s days looked so much better than they do today: flat and no soul.
I miss the eye candy to be honest, in 2026 it doesn’t computational cost much to do that effect anymore, and even web pages are using it. So I’d truly like the return of Micha, not just for the tab bar, but at the very least, the contextual menu, as again Edge and Firefox have it. (And Brave had it partially enough that it looked honestly beautiful when the tab bar let the colors of my wallpaper bleed through, than this hospital flat industrial design look that I honestly haven’t liked for the past decade since “Material Design” became a thing.)
Thanks! I found a theme extremely close called Slate, made by the Google team. It’s close, but still not a perfect match to the light blue I have from Windows. Ideally, I’d like it to match the start menu bar at the bottom of the screen, but I wasn’t going to put much effort into it, as I’ll just get used to Slate. What I really want the most from Brave is stability. The amount of ads on YouTube and from Google are becoming untenable with just AdGuard, especially with Web3. While I will miss Edge, I don’t see myself going back unless they integrate the same strict anti-ad engine Brave has.
