I find Brave’s Autoplay Block a bit too rigid for YouTube. It’s currently “all or nothing,” but my intent changes depending on what I’m watching.
The Problem:
Right now, the block stops everything, which is annoying when:
- I’m scrolling through Shorts (I want them to play instantly).
- I’m listening to a Playlist (it stops after every single video).
On the other hand, I DO want to keep blocking standard videos because:
- I often want to read the comments or description without the video jumping to life immediately.
- I want to prevent accidental plays when I’m just browsing the home feed or related videos.
Feature Request:
Could we get separate toggles for YouTube (possibly in Site Settings) to choose what to block?
- Shorts (
/shorts/) - Playlists (
&list=) - Standard videos (
/watch?v=)
This would give us way more control on both Desktop and Mobile. Some people want to avoid “doom-scrolling” Shorts, while others want their background music to keep playing.
Examples (Desktop & Mobile):
- Standard:

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/...https://m.youtube.com/shorts/... - Playlist:
