Google search results on Brave Browser are removed

I’ve got a problem with Search using Google, which is the same problem described here but the solution proposed doesn’t work and that thread has been closed.

Whenever I search on google the 1st result which is directly by google (ex: If I search USD to EUR then google usually shows the convertor on the top itself). But I have noticed that it only shows for 1 second and then disappears.

Can I configure Brave to not remove the Google snippets?
Thank you

Same problem, don’t know how to solve it. It’s becoming so annoying, that I’m seriously think of ditching Brave mostly because of this.

So you’re going to leave Brave because Brave Search is showing their own results instead of Google results?

Btw, I am not seeing any part where “Google snippets” appear and then vanish. I’d like to see it if can manage a screenshot or video.

I have been facing a similar issue for a while. Attaching a screen grab where the searches disappear after the page gets loaded.

Here are some GIFs showing this behavior, it doesn’t matter whether Brave’s Shield is up or not.

Any query that has this kind of customized first result (e.g. math, conversions, song lyrics, word meanings, etc.), and some other types like spelling errors (probably there are other types that I don’t remember now), will just delete this first result.

That is a huge part of my daily web usage. Like making a quick calculation in the browser because it’s more convenient than open a calculator app, asking for a unit/currency conversion, asking for the dictionary definition of a word, trying to remember the lyrics of a song… all of that show the exact result I wanna get, and then for no reason gets rid of them, it’s so frustrating.

So yeah, I’ll definitely consider changing my browser in order to avoid being frustrated that often.

@patrickbard Thanks for sharing. Just a FYI, I’m not having that issue. I was just trying to research and I did come across things such as:

https://support.google.com/websearch/thread/47089049?hl=en&msgid=47207576

Which basically states:

This behaviour is typical of a browser hijacker, which takes control of the Google Search results page and injects spurious content.

When’s the last time you did a full malware scan? Also, are you making sure to use with no extensions?

It would be useful to know which OS you are using, because there are different versions of Brave.

In Windows I do not have any issue. Currency converter is displayed on top and remains there. Same with sqrt 64.

Did you try disabling all your extensions to confirm it’s not one of them?

I am using Windows 10 (64-bit). The problem seems to stop occurring when I disable all the extensions, so thank you!

Will have to see which particular extension(s) was causing this to happen.

Edit: Found out that when a volume controller extension is enabled, the issue resurfaces.

Yes the volume booster was the issue in my case too.

I solved it, remove some extensions too.
For example, when I use ext: “Save & Repost for Instagram”, he removes principal results.

Correct! It is an extension problem. I disabled some video fetching and screen recording extensions and everything was back to normal.
