Google Results always open up in a new Tab

Description of the issue:
Everytime i click on a link in the Google results, it tends ro open up the page in a new Tab. I checked every setting to stop the browser from doing it. I looked at the google settings and the brave settings. Any option where it says that it will open something in a new tab is unchecked.
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open Google
  2. Search something
  3. Click a Link
  4. See Link in a new Tab

Expected result:
Everything in one tab

Brave Version( check About Brave):

1.80.125

try using startpage ( alternative to using google ) to see if this changes. Another issue might be to blocking some google services, or settings.

Hey, i just tried it with startpage and unchecked the new tab option in the startpage settings but still the same issue
