Description of the issue:
I’m experiencing intermittent connectivity issues with google[dot]com in one specific Brave profile, while all other Google services and websites work normally. The problem manifests as follows:
Symptoms:
- Random “This site can’t be reached” errors when accessing google[dot]com or https://www.google[dot]com/
- Search results page (generated from URL bar searches) also fails to load
- Issue occurs randomly during browsing sessions - google[dot]com works initially but stops working after some time
- Temporary fix: Closing and reopening the browser restores access until the issue randomly reoccurs
What Works Normally:
- Other Google services (YouTube, Gmail, Google Drive) function perfectly in the same profile
- google[dot]com works fine in other Brave profiles on the same machine
- google[dot]com works fine in incognito mode
- google[dot]com works fine in other browsers (Chrome, etc.)
- All other websites work normally in the affected profile
Environment:
- Same machine, same network, no proxy or VPN
- Two Brave profiles with different Google accounts signed in
- Only one profile is affected by this issue
Troubleshooting Steps Attempted:
- Cleared DNS cache via brave://net-internals/#dns
- Cleared browser cache and stored data
- Tested with Shields disabled (issue persists)
- Issue is NOT Shields-related
Network logs(brave://net-internals/#events) captured during the issue show QUIC protocol timeout errors:
{"params":{"details":"No recent network activity after 29001781us. Timeout:29s","from_peer":false,"quic_error":25},"phase":0,"source":{"id":3299,"start_time":"18992303","type":12},"time":"19021398","type":356}
The logs show requests to google[dot]com failing with net_error":-1 and quic_error":25 (network timeout), while other Google services continue working normally.
At the moment disabling QUIC protocol (brave://flags/#enable-quic set to “Disabled”) seems to solve the issue but I need to check further.
